GoFundMe to restore Richard Branson’s island raises £2.37

Days after large parts of his personal island were destroyed by Hurricane Irma, a GoFundMe page set up by the billionaire to pay for repairs has raised well over £2.

Branson was left in a pickle after Hurricane Irma ripped through the Virgin Islands, including his own Necker Island.

‘The damage was immense. I can easily afford to pay for it, of course, but I thought I’d give this socialism thing a try,’
said the friendly face of capitalism.

In a little over 24 hours, his GoFundMe page has raised a grand total of £2.37.

‘This is why socialism doesn’t work,’ he huffed. ‘What am I supposed to do with £2.37? I can’t even buy a cappuccino on a Virgin Train with that kind of money.’

And things get worse for Branson and the Virgin Islands as Boris Johnson has landed in the area to assess the damage.

‘Haven’t we suffered enough?’ asked one Hurricane victim.
