Human brains remember lyrics to ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ for several minutes after death

Neuroscientists have discovered that human brains still remember all the lyrics to the Britney Spears song ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ for up to TEN MINUTES after death.

The team of neuroscientists tested over one hundred songs on dying brains but it was only ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ that any of them remembered.

The catchy pop song is so entrenched in the public consciousness that it might be the last thing that anyone remembers before their brain finally shuts off for good.

‘I think this speaks to how well written a pop song this truly is. We saw flares of recognition in every single brain we tested, from young to old, particularly when it reached the line “this loneliness is killing me”. I think that’s a lyric that speaks to us all,’ said Dr Amy Fuc.

While the research is undoubtedly exciting, doctors are not yet sure what practical application the findings will have.

Britney Spears is said the be ‘extremely happy’ that her work lives on in the brains of the dead.

‘That was my target audience from the get-go,’
she told us.
